Jackson, both of L'anse, Baraga County, at Grace Methodist church parsonage, Houghton on Tuesday evening. DIED- Mrs Santra WELLANEN, aged 22 years, died yesterday morning after a two months illness with Tuberculosis at her home in Calumet. She is survived by a husband and two children. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at the Finnish Lutheran Church, Calumet. Burial will be at Lake View Cemetery, Calumet. NEWS ITEM- John WALL of CORNWALL, ENGLAND is visiting in Calumet for a short time. 1906 March 2 Friday DIED- John FLEMING, aged 35 years, died from his injuries a few days ago in the Patriot Mine, Butte, Montana. He was the son of John FLEMING of Hancock, where his son was born and raised. At an early age he came to Montana where they settled on a farm near Helmville, Powell County, Montana. After a few years he came to Butte to engage in mining which he did until his death. He leaves his wife, children, his parents and six brothers. The funeral will be Saturday at Sacred Heart church. They will reside in Missouri. 1906 March 4 Sunday NEWS ITEM-William JOHNS has resigned his position at the Mohawk mine and left for Wakefield, Michigan where he will reside in the future. His family will follow shortly. NEWS ITEM-The Misses Ida and Sophia ONNELO and Miss Ida Raisanen of Mohawk will leave shortly for Astoria, Oregon, where they will reside in the future. NEWS ITEM-Harry GRIBBEN has resigned his postion at the Mohawk Mine and gone to Wakefield, Michigan where he has secured employment. NEWS ITEM-Sam KANGAS of Mohawk location has left for San Fracisco, California where he will reside in the future. NEWS ITEM-John MATTSON has sold his house to the Mohawk Mining Company and will leave shortly for Astoria, Oregon where he will reside in the future. His family will follow soon. 1906 March 6 Tuesday DIED-Bartgolemew STACK, aged 55 years, died yesterday from injuries received on Sunday at the Quincy smelting works. He was making some repairs on a furnace and by accident he was caught between the elevator and the side wall, causing serious injuries which resulted in his death. He was born in Ireland and came to America when 35 years old and came to Hancock and worked in the copper business most of the time. He was employed at the old Detroit and Superior works for many years and went to the Quincy smelters when it opened. He is survived by a wife and nine children-Mrs Carl EHLE; James; John; Hattie; Gertie; Jennie; Thomas; May and Will STACK. He leaves four brothers-Frank of Hubbell; Thomas of Detroit, Michigan; Garrett and James in the West. The funeral will be held tomorrow at St. Patrick's church, Hancock. Burial will be at the Lakeside Cemetery, Hancock. 1906 March 7 Wednesday YESTERDAY-MARRIAGE LICENSES ISSUED BY HOUGHTON COUNTY CLERK Erick TOHNI and Hilda TOHNI of Wolverine John SIMONSON and Wilhelmina NIVA of Calumet John H. He worked for a number of years at the Calumet and Hecla mining company. He leaves a wife and 7 children-Mrs TREGLOWN; Larry; John and William, all 4 at Butte, Montana; Mrs Robert Hall and Mrs James HAHN, both of Calumet and one daughter at Lake Linden. The funeral will be Saturday at Sacred Heart church. Burial will be at Lake View Cemetery, Calumet. MARRIAGE- The marriage of Alfred MITCHELL and Flora HOCKING took place at Tamarack last week. They will make their home in Tamarack. 1906 March 8 Thursday YESTERDAY- MARRIAGE LICENSES ISSUED BY HOUGHTON COUNTY CLERK John SMITH of Calumet and Miss Frances RICHARDS of Calumet Joseph TAMBERT and Mrs. Katherine PETERSON of Calumet DIED- The remains of Erick STUCKLE, were buried yesterday afternoon at Lake View cemetery, Calumet, the funeral was from the Calumet Finnish Apostolic church. The young man was killed Saturday while walking on the South Range Railroad tracks. MARRIAGE- Daniel LEKSELL married Miss Anna TURNQUIST, at the home of the groom's brother, Andrew LEKSELL of Yellow Jacket, last Saturday night. 1906 March 9 Friday- PROBATE MATTER- Petition for allowance for monument in the estate of Joseph Elmer PEARCE, deceased. DIED- Mrs. Mose LANCTOT, aged 73 years, died at her home in Lake Linden on Thursday, from a cold that resulted in grippe. She was born in Canada and she, her husband and children came to this country, directly to Lake Linden in 1875. For a number of years they lived on a farm near Lake Linden. Six years ago the husband died. There are six children left to mourn her- Domina LA NCTOT and Mrs. Louis BOUDREAU, and Mrs. Henry ARCHAMBEAU, all 3 of Hubbell; Mrs Camille PIQUETTE and Mrs Napoleon MONGEAU, both of Gay; Joseph living at home. The funeral will be at St Joseph's church, Lake Linden. Burial will be at Mount Calvary cemetery, Lake Linden. 1906 March 11 Sunday- DIED- The funeral of William MOIYLE, who was killed at the Adventure Mine, Ontonagon County, last Thursday was held at Grace Methodist church, Houghton on yesterday afternoon. Burial was at Forest Hill cemetery, Houghton. DIED- Mrs Philip HARRINGTON, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs John SULLIVAN, of East Houghton, yesterday afternoon. She is survived by a husband and three grown children- Jerry of Bngham, Utah; Philip of Houghton and Mrs SULLIVAN. The funeral will be at St Ignatius church, Houghton on Tuesday morning. Burial will be at Forest Hill cemetery, Houghton. MARRIAGE- Joseph SIMMONS married Miss Maude COLLANDER of Laurium, yesterday morning at Justice TRATHEN's courtroom in Calumet. William EDWARDS was best man and Mary DULONG was bridesmaid. DIED- The body of Charles PETERSON will be brought to Calumet from Mass City and the funeral will be this afternoon at the Swedish Methodist church, Calumet. Burial will be at Lake View cemetery, Calumet. DIED- Jacob JANKAR, a trammer at the Calumet and Hecla Mining company, Calumet was injured severly when he and two other men pushed a car full of rocks that became derailed and his a timber that struck him. He was rushed to the Calumet hospital and died there Friday night. The funeral will be this morning from St. Joseph's Austrian Church, Calumet. Burial was at Lake View Cemetery, Calumet. DIED- William SHEA, aged 26 years, died at his home in Hancock of diptheria and a sore throat yesterday morning. The body was given a private burial at Lakeside Cemetery, Hancock, yesterday afternoon. He was born at the Minong Mine, Isle Royale Island and was the son of the late Daniel SHEA. He came to Hancock when a mere boy, with his parents and attended the Hancock schools. He was employed at the Meneral Range Railroad as a brakeman. Besides his mother he is survived by several brothers and sisters-John D. SHEA of Bessmer, Minnesota; Mrs M.A.l THEBO of Misssula, Montana; Daniel E. SHEA of Virginia City, Minnesota; Mrs C.M. Sullivan of Hancock; James M. SHEA of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Michael M; Gertrude E. and Norbert J. SHEA, all 3 of Hancock. DIED-Killian YAGEL, aged 55 years, died at his West Hancock home, Friday evening, of diabetes. He was born in Germany and came to the United States whe he was just ten years old, resided in Utica, New York for a few months, then came to the Copper Country and spent the greater part of his life in Hancock. He worked in the machine shop at the Old Quincy stamp mill for 25 years. When the mill was moved from Hancock he went into the hardware and p;umbing business with John MONDLOCH. He sold his interest in the business and worked for the city pumping station. He is survived by his wife and children-Mrs L. SLATTERY of Hancock; Mrs E. DES ROSIERS of Laurium; William; Edward; Clara; May Florence; Carl and Irene YAGEL, all of Hancock. The funeral will be held Monday morning from St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Hancock. Burial will be in the old Hancock Cemetery. MARRIAGE- Ensign William OLIVER married Captain Lucy THOMPSON, both of the Salvation Army Corps at the Hancock Salvation Army barracks last night. They will live in Hancock. 1906 March 13 Tuesday- NEWS ITEM- Miss Clara MCARTHUR left Houghton last night for Broadview, Assiniboa, Canada, and will make her future home there. YESTERDAY-MARRIAGE LICENSE ISSUED BY HOUGTHON COUNTY CLERK William TREVARTHEN of South Range and Louela May SHORT of Painesdale. DIED- Mrs Hannah HARRINGTON, aged 75, died at her home in Houghton Saturday night. The funeral will be held this morning from St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Houghton. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Houghton. She is survived by her husband, Phillip, who is in Idaho; and three children-Mrs J.F. SULLIVAN of Houghton; Jeremiah HARRINGTON of Salt Lake City, Utah and Phillip Jr. of Houghton. DIED-Leonard LEIGH, Jr, aged 38 years, died Sunday at the Tamarack Mine when he was struck with a bar of steel causing his death. He was born in Ridgeway, Wisconsin 1868 and came to the Copper Country at age of 6 years. He worked for the Calumet and Hecla Company at Lake Linden. About 11 years ago he went with his father, Leonard, Sr to Alaska and worked in the Treadwell gold mines. He then went to South Africa working there several years. Ten months ago he went to the Tamarack Mine as an inspector of surface machinery. He leaves a wife and two sons-Leonard and Myron; parents; and two brothers-Allan and Byron of Tacoma, Washington. The funeral will be Wednesday from the Tamarack Methodist Church. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery, Lake Linden. MARRIAGE- John SIMONSON married Miss Wilhelmina NEVA of Calumet, at the home of Mr and Mrs Robert OLSON of Laurium on Saturday. Nils OLSON was the best man and the maid of honor was Mrs Nils OLSON. 1906 March 14 Wednesday- DIED- Mrs Rikki SAATI, aged 50 years, died at her home in Oskar yesterday morning and had been sick a short time. She leaves a husband and five children. The funeral will be held at the home on Sunday afternoon. Burial will be at the Oskar cemetery. 1906 March 15 Thursday- DIED-Mrs Joshua JOHNS, aged 45 years, died yesterday at her home in Laurium. The funeral will take place at the Laurium Methodist church on Saturday afternoon. The burial will be at Lake View Cemetery, Calumet. DIED- The funeral of the late Thomas OSBORNE, aged 47 years, will take place this afternoon from the Calumet Methodist church. He died Monday night. Burial will be at Lake View cemetery, Calumet. He is survived by a wife and five children. 1906 March 16 Friday- YESTERDAY-MARRIAGE LICENSE ISSUED BY HOUGHTON COUNTY CLERK John OKKANEN and Miss Minnie KASKI of Atlantic. NEWS ITEM- James WATSON left Hancock where he had lived many years as an engineer at the Quincy mine, to go to Salt Lake City, Utah to live there permanently NEWS ITEM- James KENNEDY left Calumet to go to Alberta, Canada where he will make his future home. NEWS ITEM- Miss Mary JOHNSON, of Laurium, left last night for Hibbing, Minnesota, where she will make her future home. 1906 March 17 Saturday- DIED-Henry TAURINEN, aged 27 years, died yesterday morning at his home in Hancock of pneumonia. He was formerly employed at the Quincy mine and took sick there three weeks ago. He was single and born in Finland. The funeral will be tomorrow afternoon from his home and burial will be at Lakeside cemetery, Hancock. DIED-Mrs Peter KRUPP, aged 45 years, died at the Calumet and Hecla Hospital yesterday morning of paralysis. She was born in Eagle Harbor, Keweenaw County and made her home in the copper country all her life. She is survived by her husband and three sons-Horace and Fred of Calumet and James of Trimountain. The funeral will be tomorrow from the Calumet Congregational Church. Burial will be at Lake View Cemetery, Calumet. DIED-Albert JAMES, of Calumet, aged 48 years died at the Calumet and Hecla Hospital Thursday night of pneumonia. His wife died seven months ago, leaving their three children as orphans. The funeral will be next Sunday afternoon from the Calumet Methodist Church. Burial will be at Lake View Cemetery, Calumet. 1906 March 18 Sunday- MARRIAGE- William TREVARTHEN of Painesdale married Miss Luella SHORT, daughter of Mr and Mrs Henry SHORT of Painesdale, at the home of the bride's parents last night. The bride was attended by Miss Lillian POOLEY of Painesdale and Thomas SINCOCK attended the groom, and is of Painesdale. They will live in South Range. NEWS ITEM-James DENNIS resigned his position at the Mohawk mine and leaves for his old home in CORNWALL ENGLAND where he will reside in the future. 1906 March 20 Tuesday- DIED-John JEDDA, aged about 40 years old, owner of a saloon in Calumet, died Saturday afternoon of pneumonia. He came to Calumet 12 years ago. He is survived by a wife only. The funeral will take place this afternoon from St. Mary's Italian church, Calumet. Burial will be at Lake View Cemetery, Calumet. YESTERDAY-MARRIAGE LICENSE ISSUED BY HOUGHTON COUNTY CLERK William WESSON and Miss Beatrice PASCOE of Laurium. 1906 March 21 Wednesday DIED-The body of the late Andrew MCCORMICK, aged 19 years, who died Sunday at Tuscon, Arizona will arrive in Calumet on Friday. Funeral services will be at Sacred Heart Church, Calumet. Burial will then be at Lake View Cemetery, Calumet on Friday. NEWS ITEM-Mr and Mrs Wilbur VIVIAN of Hubbell will leave today for Butte, Montana where they will make their future home. He resigned his position here and has a lucrative position awaiting him there. 1906 March 22 Thursday- DIED-Mrs William BRAUN, Sr. died yesterday at her home in Linwood of neuralgia of the heart. She was born at the Cliff Mine, Keweenaw County and when a young girl moved to Houghton. She lived there for 15 years. She married William BRAUN in Houghton. After a number of years in Houghton, the family moved to Bubbell and lived there ever since. About 19 years was spent in Hubbell and Linwood. A year ago Mr BRAUN died. She leaves her mother, Mrs Martin KIRSCHWENG of Hubbell; and 3 children all of Hubbell, Will and Misses Josephine and Rose. She was a sister of Theodore KIRSCHWENG of Lake Linden; and brothers-Will of Hubbell; Joseph of Great Falls, Montana; John of Butte, Montana and Martin of Arizona. The funeral will be Friday morning at St. Cecelia's Church, Hubbell. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Houghton. DIED-Miss Mary A. CUNNINGHAM, daughter of Mrs Margaret CUNNINGHAM, died at her home in Calumet yesterday morning of a complication of diseases. She taught school in several districts in Houghton County. She leaves her mother, two sisters-Mrs Alex LAMONDRA and Margaret; a brother- John, all of Calumet. Funeral will be Saturday at Sacred Heart Church, Calumet and burial at Lake View Cemetery, Calumet. MARRIAGE- John Houghton GILL of Virginia Mine, Minnesota married Miss Amerlia MACKAY, daughter of Mrs Jane MACKAY of Houghton, at the home of her mother yesterday afternoon. Miss Tillie MACKAY, sister of the bride was the bridesmaid and the best man was Frank GILL of Duluth, Minnesota. They will live at Virginia Mine where the groom has a responsible position with the United States Steel Corporation. NEWS ITEM- Mrs May UREN has left Houghton for her home in Sleeper, Saskachewan, Northwestern Territory, Canada to stay. This will end the UREN family troubles. Some time ago her husband, Tom UREN, was brought into court for non-support. He paid his wife's railroad fare home and was released by the judge. 1906 March 23 Friday- NEWS ITEM-Bert TIPPLER and William CLEAR:Y, both of Houghton, have gone to Great Falls, Montana, where they have the sole right to sell and install electric pianos for a Duluth, Minnesota Company. They will locate there the make their future homes. Montana has laws that prohibit the playing of pianos by persons in saloons, so the saloonkeepers must use electric piano's. MARRIAGE- Herbert POOLE married Miss Bessie WILLS, yesterday at the home of the bride's parents, Mr and Mrs Charles WILLS, in Tamarack. MARRIAGE-William A. ELGER of Calumet married Mrs Helen C. NELSON of Denver, Colorago, last night at the home of Mr and Mrs E. C. VOGHT of Escanaga, Michigan. They will reside in Calumet where the groom is a prominent businessman. The bride is the sister of Mr. VOGHT. DIED- Mrs William HINSLIFF, aged 53 years, died yesterda;y at her home in Calumet after a lenthy illness. She is survived by her husband and three children-Buy and the Misses Minnie and Gail. She was one of the old copper country residents having been here about 25 years. At one time she made her home in Hancock. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at the Calumet Congregational Church. Burial will be at Lake View Cemetery, Calumet. MARRIAGE-William MATHESON married Miss Barbara M. Jackson, both of Calumet, at the home of Hector MACKENZIE in Calumet on Wednesday. They will reside in Calumet. 1906 March 24 Saturday PROBATE MATTER- Anna WESTERBERG, widow was appointed administrator of the estate of Gustaf A. WESTBERG, deceased. DIED- The remains of the late Mrs Thomas HODGES, will be shipped from Bisbee, Arizona and will arrive in Hancock tomorrow morning. The funeral will be held Monday afternoon. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Houghton. DIED-Mrs Mary SULLIVAN, aged 82 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs Edward LEE of Hancock, Thursday of paralysis. She was born in Ireland and came to America 58 years ago making her home in Pennsylvania for a short time, then coming to the copper country for the rest of her life. She leaves 3 daughters-Mrs LEE; Mrs Stephen LEARY of Lake Linden and Mrs George PEDELTY of Hancock. The funeral will be from St. Patrick's Church, Hancock tomorrow afternoon. Burial will be at the Old Hancock Cemetery. DIED- Mrs George ROWE, aged 74 years, died at home in Calumet yesterday morning after an illness of several weeks. She had been a resident of the copper country for a long number of years. She was born in CORNWALL, ENGLAND. The family lived at Lake Linden till moving to Calumet five years ago. She leaves her husband, and 2 sons- George of Salt Lake City, Utah and William of Seattle, Washington. The funeral will be Tuesday from the Calulmet Methodist Church. Burial at Lake View Cemetery, Calumet. 1906 March 25 Sunday- MARRIAGE LICENSE ISSUED BY HOUGHTON COUNTY CLERK Charles MORSETTE and Roseanna RHEAULT, both of Calumet. DIED-Patrick MADIGAN, aged about 50 years, dropped dead yesterday morning at his home in Tamarack of heart failure. He was a resident of Tamarack for 15 years. He is survived by a wife and 11 children William; Jennie; Maude; John; Nellie; Joseph; James; Allie; Florence; Raymond and Gertrude; a brother lives in Hancock and one in Montana. Burial will be at Lake View Cemetery, Calumet Monday. MARRIAGE-William WESSON of Calumet married Miss Beatrice PASCOE, at the home of the bride's parents in Laurium yesterday. The bride was attended by her sister Miss Olive PASCOE and the best man was Samuel UREN. They will live in Calumet. 1906 March 27 Tuesday MARRIAGE; Ole A. OILSON of Calumet married Miss Annie E. CONRADSON of Calumet, daughter of Mr and Mrs CONRADSON, of Calumet, at the Calumet Norwegian Church on Saturday night. The bride was attended by the Misses Helen I. OLSON and Jennie M. JOHNSON, and the groomsmen were Olaf A. OLSON and Nels A. NELSON. They will reside in Calumet. NEWS ITEM-Mr and Mrs John PEARSON arrived in Lake Linden on Sunday from St. Paul, Minnesota where they have resided since coming from the West. They will make their home with the wife's parents, Mr and Mrs Joseph A. PAULL of Lake Linden. 1906 March 28 Wednesday DIED-The remains of the late Mrs Mariom MERTON, will be interred at Lake View Cemetery, Calumet, with services at the home of her son, John MERTON of Calumet. She died Sunday night after a lengthy illness. She is survived by six children- John; James;Mrs L. W. KILLMAR, Mrs W. B. ANDERSON all 4 of Calumet; Mrs Robert SHIELDS of Houghton and Mrs William ARGALL of Ishpeming, Marquette County, Michigan. DIED- The funeral of the late Howard THOMAS will take place Thursday afternoon from the Calumet Methodist Church. Buial will be at Lake View Cemetery, Calumet. The young man died Monday morning after an extended illness. He had been traveling extensively thru the South and West for his health. DIED-William SCOTT, aged 28 years, died Monday night at his home in Calumet after a short illness. He is survived by a wife and four children. The remains will be shipped today to Alberta, Canada where he will be buried. DIED-Thomas SATTERLEY of Hubbell, received a telegram yesterday afternoon stating that Joseph AXFORD, a former Hubbell young man, died in Butte, Montana from pneumonia. He lived at Hubbell until two years ago when he went to Butte. He was married in Butte to a young lady. The funeral will be from the SLATTERLEY home Sunday afternoon. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery, Lake Linden. DIED-Mrs Mary DONOVAN, aged 70 years, died at home in Lake Linden yesterday morning of pneumonia. She was one of the oldest women in the town. She was born in Ireland and at age 14 years, with her parents migrated to Canada, where several years were spent. While in Canada she married James LYNCH and lived there for years; shen then married Jerry DONOVAN. The couple came to America and in a few years to Hancock and the Atlantic Mine. They had nine children and only one survives, Hugh, but no one knows where he lives. The last few years strangers cared for her. The funeral will be held tomorrow from St. Joseph's Church, Lake Linden. The burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Houghton. 1906 March 29 Thursday- DIED-Mrs F. M. GREEN, aged 56 years, died at her home in Osceola, after an extended illness. She was born in London, England and lived for some time in the copper country. She leaves her husband and twochildren- Carrie and James. The funeral will be from the Osceola Methodist Church on Sunday. Burial will be at Lake View Cemetery, Calumet. DIED- William HARLIA, aged 19 years, died Tuesday night at his home in Opechee of typhoid fever. He was born in Hancock and came to Opechee three years ago, taking a position with the Osceola Mining Company. He is survived by a mother, three sisters and two brothers. The funeral will take place Saturday afternoon from the Finnish Lutheran Apostolic Church, Calumet. Burial will be at Lake View Cemetery, Calumet. 1906 March 30 Friday- DIED- Mrs Mary GITZEN Sr., aged 64 years, a pioneer resident of Houghton, died at her home in West Houghton last night of a complication of diseases. Thirty eight years ago she came to Houghton, and was married to Joseph GITZEN, three years later. Her maiden name was Miss Mary GROSSE. She leaves her husband and 3 children- Mrs John SHULTE of Hubbell; Mrs Harry MILDEN; Albert and Joseph Jr. all 3 of Houghton. Funeral will be Monday from St. Ignatius Church, Houghton. Henry HANSWIRTH and Johanna ESKLELIN of Hancock. 1906 March 31 Saturday- DIED-Mrs Grace JENNINGS, aged 79 years, died Thursday, March 29, at her Hancock home of old age. DIED- Anton WIEDER, aged 86 years, died at his home in Coburntown Saturday evening. He made his home in the vicinity for 37 years. He was born in Baden, Germany and emigrated to America in 1850, coming to Cleveland, Ohio. He stayed there several years then came to the copper country and stayed until he died. He was a butcher by trade and worked for BAER Brothers in Hancock. He was twice married. He is survived by his wife, 3 sons- Benjamin of Hancock; Henry of Detroit, Michigan; Conrad of Calumet; also five daughters- Mrs Joseph URFELA of Lake Linden; Mrs John GENOONEY; Mrs Henry TURINO; Mrs John GEUEKE; and Miss Eliabeth WEIDER, all of Hancock. DIED-The funeral of Peter Arvid JOHNSON, aged 53 years, who died Sunday from the effects of an accident at the Quincy Mine four weeks ago, will be held tomorrow at the family home. FAUCETT, aged 59 years, Postmaster of Laurium, died at his Laurium home yesterday afternoon after a lengthy illness. He was born in Keewenaw County 1847 March 20, where as a young man he went into the meat business. After a few years he went to Iron Mountain, Michigan and came to Calumet in 1899. He entered the real estate business with his brother, William in Laurium, where he moved to live with his family. He leaves a wife and three children. DIED- August NORBOM, aged 61 years, died at his home in Calumet yesterday afternoon, he died quite suddenly. He is survived by two brothers and two sisters-Mrs August STRAND; and Charles NORBROM, both of Calumet. A brother at Crystal Falls and a sister in Sweden where he was born. A daughter, Mrs William SUNDBERG of Michigan City, Indiana also survives him. The funeral will be Saturday afternoon from the Swedish Methodist Church in Calumet. GOODE, of that city, yesterday of typhoid fever. She was stricken with the illness on December 18 and been sick since. She was a former Lake Linden girl, born and raised here and married Norman GOODE last September 1905. They went to Wilmerding shortly after their marriage. The remains were shipped last night and should arrive in Lake Linden tomorrow. He was a civil engineer for the Tamarack Mining Company till his illness prevented him working and he started traveling. DIED- David MONTAGUE, aged 34 years, died suddenly from a hemmorrage of the lungs at the Calumet and Hecla office where he had gone to file his election bonds. he died before medical help could get to him. He was born and raised in Hancock. Eight years ago he was employed by the Quincy Mills at Mason and fell from a coal trestle, hurting his spine from which he never recovered. A mother; three brothers and three sisters are left to mourn him. The funeral will be held Monday morning at the family home. Burial was at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Thomas BUZZO accompanied by six experienced Lake Superior miners will leave for Roseburg, Oregon and from there will go to the property of the Wolverine and Western Development property to open a copper mine on the site. The plans call for running a tunnel about 350 feet below the surface the one in which the rich ore strike was made. From Rosburg to the mine is a distance of 45 miles and the the railroad goes to within 18 miles of the mine. If the mine is as valuable as supposed then a road will be made thru the woods to get access to the mine and railroad. DIED- James F. BOND, for 52 years a resident of Greenland Township, Ontonagon County, died at his a result of an operation on a tumor. He was one of the first businessmen of Greenland and for years operated the Eagle Hotel. He was also the proprietor of the "pioneer store" up to about five years ago. The funeral will held yesterday afternoon with burial at the Greenland Cemetery. DIED- Thomas HEARD, aged 24 years, died in Ontonagon, Ontonagon County, Michigan yesterday. He leaves three sisters. The funeral was held Friday. DIED- George MEHRING, of Hubbell, aged 54 years, died at his home on Sunday morning from an illness lasting about one year. He was born at Buffalo, New York 1851 October 28 and came to the Lake Superior area in 1861. He has lived in Hubbell for the past 20 years. Up to his death he was a carpenter at the Calumet and Hecla Smelting works at Linwood. He leaves a step father, Henry KAISER of Hubbell and one brother, William of Hubbell and another brother-Fred at Redridge. He is survived by a wife and three children in Hungary. 1906 April 12 Thursday- DIED- Charles KARINEN, aged 26 years, died in the Houghton County jail where he had been confined since the first of the week. He had been living with his brother on a farm near Laird but has had attacks it's said of a violent nature for the past several days. He was so violent that he was placed in jail for his own good and the good of those he came in contact with. Tuesday he suffered a severe attack and died shortly afterward. DIED- Charles WESTERMARK, aged 30 years, died at the Calumet and Hecla hospital of pneumonia Tuesday night after a few days illness. He was single. DIED- Timothy LEARY, aged about 57 years, an old employee of the Quincy Mine Company, died yesterday afternoon by a fall of loose rock. He had worked at the mine over 20 years as a miner. DIED- William LOWE, aged 76 years, died yesterday afternoon at his home in Calumet after an illness of over two years. He was born in Scotland 1830 September 1 and left there in the early 1860's, coming to the Bruce Mines in Canada. After a short time he came to the Calumet and Hecla Mining Company, which he held until his illness forced him to retire. She was born 1827 April 8 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Mr and Mrs Joseph H. PARKER of Hamilton. She married William MURCH on 1865 April 28 and Hamilton and the following month came to Houghton by boat and settled in Hancock. She leaves her husband, two daughters and one son and relatives in England and Canada. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at the Hancock Methodist Church. Burial will be in the old Hancock Cemetery. DIED-John HARTFORD, aged 77 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs Louis VERRIER of North Tamarack, yesterday morning. He came here a month ago from Ontonagon, Ontonagon County, Michigan, to visit his daughter, he became ill and resulted in his death. He lived in Ontonagon for 50 years, making him one of the oldest residents of the town. He was born at Newry, Ireland and about 54 years ago came to New Orleans and then Ontonagon. NEWS ITEM- Mr and Mrs Adolph RUHL celebrated their 50 wedding anniversary at their Hancock home Saturday evening. They were married 1856 April 21 at Eagle Harbor, Keweenaw County and moved to Hancock three years later. They are amond the oldest residents in Hancock. DIED-Joseph MOOTI-aged about 50 years, a trammer at the Calumet and Hecla Mine died yesterday afternoon when he was struck by a falling rock weighing over two tons and killed instantly. DIED-William FEZZEY, aged 23 years, a brakeman on the Hecla and Torch Lake Railroad, died while he was trying to couple two railway cars, he was standing on one and when they came together, the shouck threw him off the car and under the wheels. DIED- Narcisse CENEVERT, aged 60 years, who fell from the roof of the oper hose (Opera House?) , while he was working on it, seriously injured himself and died yesterday afternoon. He was an old settler of Lake Linden coming here in 1880 from Menominee. He was a carpenter till his death. He leaves a wife, one daughter, Mrs Elizabeth DIX of Calumet; 3 brothers- Jopeph; Gedon and Cuthbert. Also two sisters. DIED-The remains of the late Mrs Barbara GRIMMER, aged 42 years, will be buried (at the) Laurium Methodist Church in Laurium, where she died Monday at her Laurium home. She is survived by her parents in Laurium; a brother George EDLEMAN of Utah; and four children- Henry Jr.; Hettie; Marie; and Clarence.
